800sqm of green roof on the headland hotel and spa’s brand new spa facility on the north cornwall coast just up the road from Newquay.
4 green roofs of varying sizes on this magnificent new spa facility right on the tip of the headland.
To say we had to battle through the weather would be an understatement. The roof seemed to have its own micro climate so logistics were extremely difficult.
Working for Western Flat Roofing we had the help of a crane for the materials.
A very large amount of substrate was used due to us needing to reach a depth of 200ml across the roofs.
Such a high depth of growing medium was used due to the roofs exposed position right on the headland.
We had to weigh down every layer until ready to unload the substrate due to the extreme wind conditions.
Getting materials to these back roofs was a tall order.
A coastal seed mix has been added to this 800sqm green roof area.
