New Bio Solar Green Roof for LIDL

Lidil biosolar roof
Supermarket chain Lidl are nearing completion of their brand new store in Sandford, Dorset. New Lidl stores are no longer much of a suprise as the chain goes from strength to strength in the UK. But this one is a bit special as it is the first Lidl store to feature a green living roof – installed by the TUGC team.
Designed to blend into the green belt area and reduce the visual impact of the large building, it features a large living roof covering about 1000 square meters, designed to not only help the building integrate visually with the green belt but to also support biodiversity and reduce flood water runoff that might be exacerbated by such a large roof area.
The wildflower biodiverse roof will also boast solar panels, making it a bio solar roof. Main roof contractor and longtime TUGC clients, SF Roofing said:

It manages stormwater, improves insulation, purifies air, reduces noise, and creates habitats for wildlife. By cooling urban areas and improving energy efficiency, it helps combat the heat island effect and lowers building energy costs while perfectly aligning with our client’s commitment to eco-friendly construction.”
