Biosolar roof to benefit Social Housing
We installed four separate biosolar roofs of approximately 600 sq.m. that will deliver low-cost green energy.
The biodiverse green roof itself includes 3000 plants comprised of 35 different plant species defined as “Perfect for Pollinators” by the RHS. The planting covers the whole roof area and offers a large variety of vegetation in the heart of the city. With highly efficient PIR insulation approximatively 10% of the building’s heating use will be mitigated and the large array of solar panels on top of the green roof will save potentially the occupants hundreds of pounds.
We also greened a further two wing roofs of approximately 200 m2 consisting of solar panels and sedum grass mat. The sedum is already established and attracting pollinators into a busy urban area showing our hard work has paid off.
