Urban Greening Projects Review May 2023

The TUGC team have been busy this May with many maintenance visits and installs, helped by the much improved weather. Some of the focus now turns to ensuring irrigation is working correctly. Here is a brief roundup of some of this month’s highlights.

General Maintenance visit – Devon.

Last September we restored a domestic green roof on this property in the beautiful Devon countryside. You can see from the before and after images the great results. After some much needed TLC and additional planting, the patchy pale sedum that was previously struggling has now spread and turned a lush healthy mixture of greens.

Wildflower Green Roof Installation – Birmingham.

Two years ago we installed a green wildflower roof as part of a redevelopment project in central Birmingham. This month we have been back to check on the roof and more excitingly to begin phase 2 with the installation of another roof. In this image you can see the new roof with the old one flowering behind. The roofs will provide some much needed biodiversity in the heart of the city and a pleasant view for the surrounding developments when they are completed.

Green Roof Maintenance – Wales.

We carried out a maintenance visit a wildflower roof in Wales which has thrived since we installed it. The wildflowers are flourishing and put on a fine display at this time of year, and as a sign of biodiversity in action a striking Orchid has grown on the roof since our last maintenance visit.
