St Mary’s Living Roof Maintenance Swanage

St Marys school green roof
Our living roof maintenance team were back on the South Coast enjoying the sea views at St Mary’s Catholic primary school in Swanage.
The school was relocated several years ago from a tight urban setting to a greenfield site in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Architects Chaplin Farrant designed the new structure with a stunning curved green sedum roof. We have looked after this sedum roof for a number of years and you can see how vibrant it’s looking with regular TLC!
The school said after our visit:
“We love our living roof but rarely get to see it close up. It recently had it’s yearly inspection from The Urban Greening Company who took these fabulous photos whilst they were up there. We all agreed it looks afb (absolutely fabulous)”.
Sedums require a certain amount of sunlight to thrive. When exposed to long periods of direct sunlight such as on a roof, some sedum varieties develop stunning red hues as a natural response to the increased light intensity, such as in this case.
