Green Roofs and Sustainable Wine

green roof on lodge at Melbury Vale Winery
Just off the Dorset section of the A350 the all girl team of Clare and Corinne run Melbury Vale Vineyard, winery and distillery. Within a stone’s throw of picturesque Shaftesbury and set in the stunning rolling Dorset hills and Stirkel valley, 2000 vines cover the hillsides at this artisan winery.
After the first wine produced here won a silver medal the winery was also nominated for a design award due to its clever use of the rolling hillside terrain. It has won government rural development funding for its sustainable features including a wild flower meadow roof and rain water harvesting. And now with two new lodges built on the site The Urban Greening Company’s team has been busy installing two beautiful sedum roofs.
The install went well and the lodges look amazing as I am sure you will agree (the sheep certainly did!)  You can find out more about this amazing winery and its produce here: https://mvwinery.co.uk
