BioSolar Install for Cornwall College St Austell
We were thrilled to be asked to install the new living roof for St Austell College, part of the Cornwall College group.
This was a complex roof with a mixture of slab walkways, solar PV arrays and wild flower build up.

The installation was made more challenging by the extreme heat conditions, with temperatures on the exposed roof hitting the 40 degree mark on some occasions, but the team battled on to get the initial phases of the project completed on schedule.
We checked and prepared the roof area and marked out the walkways and PV array anchor points before laying the drainage, filter membranes and planting medium.

Materials were craned up to the roof areas, made easier by the fact the students and staff are on their summer breaks.
We have created an attractive, sustainable bio-solar, living roof that, once established, the staff and students will hopefully enjoy for years to come. This is not only in keeping with the college’s green credentials but will also generate a significant amount of the campus power requirements.
