Green Space in a Place of Learning – Bournemouth University
The TUGC roof installation team were excited to be asked to install a series of green roof terraces on the new Fusion Building at Bournemouth University. Fusion, built by Willmott Dixon, is the University’s new flagship academic building and focal point – a glass-fronted inspirational building that’s the new centrepiece for the campus and their most environmentally sustainable building to date. Achieving an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A and BREEAM Excellent, it features a range of the latest technologies designed to reduce its impact.
The 200 square metres of sedum roof that was designed and installed by our team was part of the construction being managed by Richardson Roofing who were contracted to provide industrial cladding, standing seam roofing and much more for the project.
“The Fusion Building is now a landmark in Bournemouth. Not only will it attract new students to the area but it will facilitate more collaboration with local businesses, which will continue to deliver benefit to the local economy.”
Suzanne Moroney, Director of ICE South East England.
This 200 square metres of roof took less than a day to install with sedum blanket and river stone edging. The result looks stunning and works well with futuristic design of the building.
