Elsevier Green roof Terrace London

Recreational roof garden for Elsevier PLC London

The task here was to transform a newly laid single ply roof into a usable recreation roof garden area for the office staff at Elsevier’s Lancet. We set to work and turned the ply roof into a fully functional attractive bespoke roof garden.

Decking was installed by our team as well as a slabbed area for the staff and guests to barbecue and generally entertain. In addition we created Picnic areas with tables and even bespoke planters for the staff to enjoy a spot of gardening themselves and to encourage much needed pollinators.

Fully weatherproof LED feature lighting was added to further enhance the terrace area. Finally we installed colourful patio furniture for the staff to sit out and enjoy coffee and lunch in a relaxing environment.

We call this type of scheme an intensive roof garden. These can be the most interesting green roof schemes but are considerably heavier than standard build ups. The roof loadings need to be calculated by a qualified structural engineer and every aspect of the installation carefully calculated and considered. However the result is a stunning and functional tranquil terrace in the heart of the city of London.
