Lancet living wall at London Wall

Living Wall Installation – Lancet’s London Wall Offices

We were commissioned by The Lancet’s publishers, Elsevier PLC,  to install a 7 metre high interior living wall in their London offices.

A modular panel system was used, fixed onto a structural framework which was anchored against the existing stud wall. This provided a strong support for the large living wall. We used a tower scaffold to gain access to each area of the wall which created a safe working environment to start populating the planet pockets with the chosen plants.

The planting scheme itself needed careful consideration as this was an indoor installation with reduced sunlight. Our horticultural expert designed the planting scheme to incorporate 2,000 hardy but attractive house plants of different varieties.

Our next task was to incorporate an irrigation system to ensure even watering of the vegetation. This wall has proven to be the highlight of a multi-million pound refurbishment of these offices. It is an impressive and visually stunning focal point for the office staff and visitors to enjoy all year round. The installation will also create a healthy indoor climate and increase productivity within the workplace. The plants we have installed should also improve staff well being.

We have also won the ongoing maintenance  contract. This should see us keeping the wall in good shape going forward.
