The task here was to transform a newly laid single ply roof into a usable recreation roof garden area for the office staff at Elsevier PLC.

We installed man made decking as well as a slabbed area for barbecues.

We also installed planted beds for the pollinators.

We created these Picnic tables and even bespoke planters for the staff to enjoy a spot of gardening.

 

We also carried out the electrical works – namely LED feature lighting to further enhance the terrace area.

Finally we installed colourful patio furniture for the staff to sit out and enjoy coffee and lunch in a relaxing environment.

We call this type of scheme an intensive roof garden. These can be the most interesting green roof schemes but are considerably heavier than standard build ups. The roof loadings need to be calculated by a qualified structural engineer.
