Green Roof for New £23M Torquay Hotel

Green roof for New Indigo Hotel Torquay

One of the world’s biggest hotel chains will be running a new four star hotel being built on Torquay seafront.

Intercontinental Hotels – the IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) – has built Hotel Indigo Torquay with The Fragrance Group on the site of the former Corbyn Head Hotel, and it now has a fine green sedum roof to cap it off.

The TUGC installation team spent the week at the nearly completed hotel which boasts a stylish rooftop bar, extensive sea facing terraces, destination restaurant and bar on the ground floor all overlooking the Torbay with views towards the beaches, harbour and marina. And now with a lush hardy green sedum living roof to help it blend into the landscape, particularly as much of Torbay looks down towards the waterfront. This will also provide biodiversity in a hard surface area as well as flood water mitigation and extra insulation for the hotel itself.
The hotel has been designed by local architects Kay Elliot and is being delivered by Willmott Dixon. It is due to open later this year.
