Landscaped Rooftop Garden at Retirement Home
We were asked to carry out the installation of 6oo square metres of landscaped roof garden on podium decking at a new development in Edgbaston at Audley St Geroges Place.
In the heart of leafy Edgbaston, St George’s Place retirement village is just outside Birmingham. Two Grade II listed Regency villas, a restored Victorian building and new buildings house 95 luxury cottages and apartments.
A podium deck is an elevated, often structural concrete platform built over a non-critical space, commonly a car park area or similar, that acts as a roof while providing usable outdoor space above
We created a peaceful area for residents of the 95 luxury retirement properties. In addition to the green roof planting we also put blue roof sysems in place to aleviate water run-off issues created by the new development.
Nearly all of the materials, including 200 tonnes of soil were moved by hand making this a challenging but rewarding project. We are sure you will agree the results are stunning and we hope will provide many years of pleasure for the residents!
