Replacing an Iconic Green Roof in London Docklands
The Urban Greening Company were commissioned to replace a tired and badly maintained green roof with a new modular system at the landmark Crystal building in London’s docklands.
The crystal building on London’s famous Royal Victoria Dock has already won many awards and accreditations as the world’s most sustainable events venue and is home to the world’s largest exhibition on the future of cities. It is also an office space for global engineering powerhouse Siemens. Our work here has contributed to this along with adding to the building’s current aesthetics.
The project involved completely stripping the current soft modular green roof system and replacing it with a brand new Bauder green roof. It has to be said the roof was not looking good prior to our visit and has now been transformed into a lush and vibrant sedum roof worthy of its location.
The stunning futuristic glass construction is striking image by the side of the Thames and the green roof can clearly be seen from the Emirates Airline cable cars which pass overhead.
